The Biblical Garden was set up by St Andrew’s Church to celebrate the Millennium and once a suitable piece of land became available work started.

The garden is designed on the theme of the Tree of Life with paths representing the main branches of the tree. There is however a circular path suitable for wheel chairs right round the garden. Next to the main road there is a herb garden with many of the Biblical Herbs including thyme, sage, rue, rosemary, mint, artemesia, Jerusalem sage, chives, and oregano.

The beds between the paths have also got many Biblical plants including,the myrtle bush, almonds, a vine, apples, fir trees, roses and lilies. A bay tree was planted on the day the garden opened and it survives quite well. In summer on the side of the mound there is a rainbow planted by the Rainbow Guides with the help of one of the garden volunteers.

As well as the plants there are other things to see including a beautiful seated area sheltered by a dry stone wall, a map of Scotland, the names of biblical plants carved on stones, a desert, an empty tomb with the stone, a well full of flowers, a manger, and a replica Celtic stone standing on the hill above the tomb.

The garden is open all the time and can be visited all the year round and it is looked after by volunteers. The photos show aspects of the garden including the myrtle bush which flowered for the first time this year.
